It is important for affiliate marketers and bloggers alike to read the new guidelines handed down by the FTC today. You should read it thoroughly and interpret how it could possibly impact your business. If you were not including disclaimers on your landing pages before (which you should have been), then maybe it’s time to add them.
As usual, the FTC does not give you exact guidelines on how you should implement their new guidelines. In this case, they don’t define how you must disclose to your site visitor that you are being compensated. They seem to always leave some room for interpretation later which opens up some gray areas. I suggest to air on the side of caution if you find yourself even gray-ish.
They also open up some liability questions for both affiliates and advertisers. And they address celebrity endorsements as well.
