Facebook Ads – Suggested Bids, Impressions, + Your Money
If you are a Facebook ads player then you are probably a little frustrated right now, right? You are not alone. We have been getting questions the last few weeks about what we think is going on and so I finally decided to post so I don’t have to repeat it again.
We have seen the trend of at the end of every quarter where two things happen. 1. Advertisers seem to scrub a little harder. They have to hit them numbers you know. It is funny too. The publicly traded companies do it big time and the private ones not so much. You know who you are if you are reading this. It’s all good. Part of the game. 2. Brands dump all of their budget before the new quarter begins. They have to justify the next quarters budget. It happens across all ad platforms and is usually in the CPM buys. But those CPM buys jack up the CPC buys as you all know. And that happened on the Facebook Ad platform as the quarter ended last month. Not only did we see the brands (thanks TBS for letting us know what was coming on that night) but our account reps straight out told us.
Now that was prior to the 1st of October. What the hell is going on now? Short answer – no idea! Facebook told us that there was def a bug last week in the suggested bids but that has been fixed. And although we have seen the suggested bids come down some they are still more than double what they were. We are working with Facebook to try to provide an answer as it has just crushed certain campaigns for us. Campaigns we were spending $40,000/day on for months have dropped down to close to $10,000/day. And this is isolated to Facebook so it is not a marketing shift that can explain it.
I know that we normally have the answer. And I have seen times where Facebook is testing something with their algorithm or platform and it slows things up but never for this long. I have reached out to other Facebook Ads publishers big and small and it seems to be across the board with just a few exceptions. So you are not alone my fellow Facebook advertisers. We feel your pain too.
I get at you when I know more REAL info. In the time being, keep ranting on those forums and spewing false info. I love to read it!

your blog theme is sick!!
we are seeing the same thing with out FB traffic. Our rep gave the same reason but that simply is not the case. We monitor boards like nobody’s business and there aren’t any substantial increase in brands being on.
any updates here? we are still having issues……
Hey J. Cash, any update on the situation? I, too, have noticed a big increase. I’m guessing that facebook just decided to get greedy again, but who know?
