In PPC marketing or all affiliate marketing for that matter, you can/should always test using a landing page vs. just direct linking.  I am a huge proponent of direct linking to just get data on a niche but we always come back when we go to scale to build out landing pages and write different ad copy to text against the direct linking test.  Anyway here is a useful Google webinar about landing pages.  Pretty shitty quality as are most of the Google videos but def worth checking out.  It should stimulate some thought.
