ready, AIM, fire – Niche Marketing

If you didn’t notice the “aim” in ready, aim, fire is CAPITALIZED!  Aim = Target = Niche Marketing.  The internet itself leveled the playing field for the small guys to be able to compete with the bigger guys.  And most major advertising platforms aid indiscriminately to whether you can drop $500 or $50,000 on a campaign.  There is an equal opportunity for all affiliates or at least for those that are willing to roll up their sleeves and use the tools that are available.  Niche marketing is what I am talking about and there are several ways for you to take advantage of it.

Whether it is SEM/SEO or PPC social media marketing there is typically a way for affiliates to dig into a niche and make a profit.  You ready for a few Pro-tips?  Read on:

  • SEO 101 – pick a niche, get a keyword rich domain, write spider worthy content
  • you can create a number of different types of content sites – make sure it is informational, a blog describing your own positive experience with the product/niche you are promoting, review a hand full of products from your niche, write a report on your niche and how a certain product solves a specific problem, etc…
  • got email marketing?  On your report or review site don’t forget to add a newsletter opt-in so that you can market to these targeted, active users over and over again.
  • on social media networks don’t forget to keyword target.  It seems like a true durrr hurrrr but it is shocking to hear how many Newbs as well as experienced marketers don’t take full advantage of all of the targeting that Facebook and MySpace give you.  Shoot yourself if you are not using it.

The next question I typically get when talking niche marketing is “how do I know what to target and what do I create my content around?”  Knowing what to target is easy for me to answer – RESEARCH.  Get off your ass and do something for yourself.  This is not easy but it’s not rocket science either.  As for your content after you know what you are writing about?  Two more tips:

  • write content that solves a readers problem, brings the user joy, health or another positive attribute, provide the reader with specific information that they want or need in some way.
  • the content of the website must be relevant, timely and on topic for what the reader is searching for.

Wordz.
