Fun Facebook Facts
Or hear say, depending on who you talk to. Here are some things we saw and heard while at at the Facebook Ads Summit or at least the stuff that we are allowed (I think) to tell others. If not, I am sure they will tell me so I can delete. But I don’t think any of this is the secret sauce – well maybe the pastry chef.
- Average numbers of friends for a Facebook user – 130.
- 24 hour beer keg – each week they switch out what beer is available.
- Cafe X serves lunch and dinner. They also have a pastry chef.
- Everyday they also have a chef that cooks out on the grill up on the roof. Burgers and hot dogs everyday WAT?!
- 40 million status updates are made each day.
- They had a famous graffiti artist tag up their old offices. They loved it so much when they moved they cut the walls out and brought it with them. It now hangs around the head quarters as individual pieces of art.
- Facebook is available in 70 different languages.
- All of the chefs have desks (with 30 inch monitors). Not true that they are the ones that review the ads – I asked.
- Had to sign a separate NDA just to enter the building. Two security guards didn’t appear to like me very much.
- 6 BILLION minutes are spent on Facebook each month.
- Open, free-for-all, snack bar for anytime snacks. From fresh fruit and nuts to soda and Snickers. They had a ton of Starbursts but someone had eaten all of the pinks (WFT?).
- There is a putt-putt course on the roof.
- There is a basketball court and a horse shoe pit out back.
- 300 million registered users and 150 million active users. 50% use the site regularly – incredible.
- Visitors are not allowed to take random photos or you will be thrown to the ground and frisked (still bruised).
- 3 million events are created every month. (half by my wife I think)
- Employees can invite family members and/or friends to join them for lunch.
