Affiliate Marketers Listen Up – DON’T LISTEN!

\RANT

I am tired of all the affiliates in this industry talking ish about different ad platforms or traffic sources because THEY can’t make any money on them.  It is pretty damn amusing to see all these big ballin’ affiliates saying how this search engine banner me or the traffic on this social media platform is crap and you can’t make money off them because I didn’t.  I should ban myself from reading a lot of these forums and affiliate blogs as they continue their campaign of hate!

Here is a good rule of thumb – if you see ads running on a platform then someone is making money.

The only thing that I hate worse than these guys are people that I take my time to help saying “but I read on this forum that this type of offer doesn’t work on that platform”.  Really?  You are going to listen to some random loser that possibly dropped $50 on testing a campaign on MySpace tell you that something doesn’t work work there?

Classic example that set this rant off.  I get a text from a guy that I helped guide when he was starting affiliate marketing.  He asked for my opinion on a campaign he was going to test on Facebook because he knows that we OWN (not just pimp but own) a few niches on Facebook.  I give him a few points to consider and his reply was “but I read on *a certain aggressive forum which I love* that this technique doesn’t work on this specific niche”.  I asked him if he knew the guy that posted it?  Answer: Nah but he posts on the Facebook thread all the time.  So I got my friend on AIM and had him look at that thread with me.  We looked at 17 posts this member made and all of them were how he lost money this way and that way and bitch and poor me BS.  Why would you listen to someone like that?  Why give him any credit?  Do you know if he targeted?  What LPs he used?  What offer he was pushing?  Answer: No…. I then had my friend get on his FB account and look at his ad board.  I asked if he saw an ad from the niche he inquired about.  Answer: Yes (and it was mine which made it even sweeter).  Enough said.

I am not saying don’t get on forums and read what others had to say.  I am saying take it with a grain of salt especially if it isn’t someone you know and respect.  It is easy to get misled by others that have no clue what they are doing.

Remember – YOU DO YOU.
